Disciples went house to house

Acts 5:42 “And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.”

Acts 20:20 “I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable and teaching you in public and from house to house.”

Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always to the end of the age.”

Jesus promised and reassured His continuous divine presence through Holy Spirit upon His disciples until “the end” as they did not cease teaching and preaching to strangers about Jesus, our Savior. In these “last days” there are many Christian denominations, many false prophets, and many Christians who have never concerned themselves with the worldwide disciple making.

Today, there are different ways to “go” share faith in the “good news” of Jesus. The object of disciples teaching through Bible study from “house to house” and making disciples would be the emphasis of modern-day Christians if churchgoers speak out about the importance of the disciple making. Teaching up to baptism and instructing the newly baptized Christian to do the same. When Paul is saying house to house, he isn’t referring to knocking on doors. What he is referring to is spending time at the home or agreed upon location in private Bible study with the newly interested. This gives the Bible study the opportunity to ask questions and to know each other.

There are so many ways to conduct Bible studies. One is meeting live online. Another is commenting by posting responses at every opportunity about these “last days” using scriptures such as Matthew 24, Revelation 12 and others reaching the hearts of the public. The public responds in interest often. Letter writing and telephone calls are great tools in the disciple making work.

The object is that disciples do not cease teaching and proclaiming the glory of God every day. “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” Ecclesiastes 12:13

Always Christian with love from Anne Fisher-of-men. Amen
