The Bible mentions many oils; some precious oils like frankincense and myrrh and many botanicals.

There are 20 oils revered in the Bible. Some of which will heal you instantly. Why? Our Creator Jesus is our God of love and provides everything to benefit us; especially oils and spices, some of which counteract pain in our bodies like turmeric and ginger. Others that completely heal our ailments. Here are a list of 12 most revered oils and their uses having been used as integral part of the lives of people.

  1. Frankincense (Boswellia): A holy, grounding resin used in ancient temple incense and famously gifted to the newborn Jesus.
  2. Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha): A highly prized resin used in purification rituals, embalming, and the holy anointing oil.
  3. Cinnamon; I put it in my coffee every morning to control my blood pressure and glucose level.
  4. Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica): Symbolizes strength and majesty, used extensively in the construction of King Solomon’s temple.
  5. Spikenard (Nardostachyr jatamansi): An incredibly costly, fragrant oil famously used by Mary to anoint Jesus’ feet before our Lords crucifixion.
  6. Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis): A purifying herb referenced in ritual cleansing and notably offered to Jesus on the cross.
  7. Cassia (Cinnamomum cassia): A key ingredient in the holy anointing oil given to Moses.
  8. Sandalwood (Aloes): Referred to in Scripture as aloes; it was an aromatic wood burned as incense and used to prepare Jesus for burial.
  9. Cypress (Cupressus): A symbol of prosperity and strength; often identified as the “gopher wood” used to build Noah’s Ark.
  10. Myrtle (Myrtus communis): Symbolizes peace and joy, frequently used in the celebration of the Feast of the Tabernacles.
  11. Cistus (Rose of Sharon): A sweet fragrant resin considered a symbol of purity and divine beauty.
  12. Onycha (Styrax benzoin): A sweet, banilla scented resin that was blended into sacred incense in the ancient temple.
  13. Sandalwood (Aloes): Referred to in Scripture as aloes; it was an aromatic wood burned as incense and used to prepare Jesus for burial.
  14. Galbanum (Ferula galbaniflua): A pungent, earthy oil that was a primary ingredient in the holy incense described in the Book of Exodus.

In biblical accounts, the primary oil used for anointing and healing was pure olive oil. Jesuses’ disciples were specifically recorded anointing the sick with olive oil as an outward sign of God’s healing power. Olive oil in the ancient near east was always used medicinally to treat wounds as seen in the Parable of the Good Samaritan. The disciples of Jesus anointed many sick people with olive oil and healed them.

Look deeper into these botanicals and oils and learn the wonders of our Creator’s supernatural healing powers of Holy Spirit. There are so many more wonders of God’s creation. Seek them and you will live. The tree of life Adam believed the oil of the “tree of life” would relieve him of his ailments and sent his son Seth and Eve to the doors of the Garden to beg for some oil of the tree of life, but the doors were closed and guarded by angels. What oils were there outside of the garden?
