Before God uses us, we go through many trials. Being “born again” and saved by the grace of God, we are led by Holy Spirit in God’s plan for each of us. Everything works for God’s purpose. Jeremiah 29:11, which says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God makes everything work out for His purpose.
In solitude we learn to live without human support, without the understanding of those around us. “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruits of his deeds.” (Jeremiah 17:10) “The Lord searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought.” (1 Chronicles 28:9) Those who want to bear fruit must first learn to be rooted in silence with God. When we are alone with God; He molds us to fit His plan for our everlasting future.
Humiliated, falsely accused or even rejected for no reason, God’s servants persevere. When recommended to others, then not recommended by others of those around; God’s servants grow in power strength endurance and love. Rejection by family God tore us away from. Rejected by friends God separated us from. Our identity is not of the approval of men. Only God. Injustice reveals the true disposition of our hearts.
Beloved Joseph, son of Israel was separated by his family. Endured much hardship and endured through much heartache in solitude and then was elevated as the most important man in Egypt. David was a shepherd boy alone day by day attending the sheep and singing praises to God. David was chosen from all of his brothers and was praised by God as “a man after my own heart, ” then elevated to be a King. Moses, David, Elijah, Paul and Jesus withdrew into the wilderness and isolated themselves transforming their solitude into profound spiritual growth in communion with God.
Unfortunately, most are afraid to be alone and have no experience being alone. Most never have the ability or time to be alone. A lot don’t pray or take time alone to meditate in peace with God. Let that not be you. Solitude is a gift from God.
