They get married. It isn’t long before they realize they don’t like each other. In fact, they can’t stand each other. In ‘good faith’ they were married giving the other the benefit of the doubt they’d each love until death do them part. Their personalities clash under stress. The honeymoon is over. One spouse isn’t what the other expected. It’s impossible to live together peacefully. Someone is causing chaos. Someone is abusive; an ugly dark personality incapable of communication, compromise or care. It’s as though they married a complete stranger. They had no idea the other would react to the most unimportant in such a “vile” way.
In the Bible, “vile” refers to anything morally base, depraved, contemptible, or worthless in the eyes of God. It means dirty, immoral, dishonorable and foolish. How is a person who married someone in “good faith” going to handle a spouse who is “vile?” More than likely, not well. Is it acceptable to God to divorce someone whose actions are entirely disrespectful, hurtful, unloving, contemptuous, inappropriate and immoral causing injury? Of course it is. The Bible and the conditions for divorce being adultery don’t mention the “vile” spouse. The injurious wicked spouse causing injury. Modern civil laws do.
No one is expected to feel bad about defending themselves against the contemptuous. It is intelligent not to continue in a relationship with someone who is “vile.” In fact, it is wise to RUN. People who are of low IQ hateful and ignorant are people of low IQ hateful and ignorant.
Divorce is one of the most stressful experiences of a person’s life. Every county in America has a courthouse where you can walk into and have assistance by a “court facilitator” in a divorce, a dissolution of marriage and child support. They are there to help. It doesn’t cost anything to ask.
If you are being abused by a spouse. Get help. Ask God in prayer. God hears our prayers and answers our pleas for help. Our Creator is our God of love and protects His servants.
